Check the Carbon Rod Before Buying
Save the purchase price while keeping a small travel buffer. If the starter rod still lands your normal targets, buying Carbon is optional. Purchase it when a cheap improvement helps the next few sessions.
Find the Moosewood Display
Go to Marc's store in Moosewood Village and look beside his counter for the early-rod display to Marc's right (the left side of the shop as you face him). Carbon Rod is sold here for 2,000 C$, alongside Training, Plastic, Fast, and Lucky Rod. Read the rod name and live price before paying so you do not select the wrong display.
Use Carbon as a Bridge
Carbon improves the opening loop without asking for a long quest or large level gate. Use it to catch, sell, and learn which stat becomes the next bottleneck. That information is more useful than immediately copying an enchant recommendation.
Know When Carbon Has Done Its Job
Move on when difficult fish regularly escape, weight blocks your target, or a later rod opens the money or XP route you want. Steady Rod is the common comfort comparison, but it is not an automatic purchase.
Avoid Expensive Over-investment
