The Unlock Has Two Finish Lines
At level 424, start the Mysterious Songstress questline in the Underground Music Venue. The first set of tasks awards a Restricted Pinion's Aria after the musical-fish and Heavenly Harmonic Dove objectives. Two more no-missed-note challenges remove the restriction, so receiving the rod is only the first half of the unlock.
Earn the Restricted Rod
- Talk to the Mysterious Songstress in the Underground Music Venue.
- Catch a qualifying musical fish and present it while following her dialogue prompt.
- Use the rewarded Hang Glider route from the peaks of Castaway Cliffs.
- Catch the Heavenly Harmonic Dove and return to receive Restricted Pinion's Aria.
Remove the Restricted State
- Use Pinion's Aria to catch 42 fish at Crystal Cove without missing musical notes.
- Then catch one qualifying major target—currently documented examples include Megalodon, Scylla, Leviathan, or a Colossal Dragon—without missing notes.
- Return through the quest flow so the Restricted enchant is removed.
Practice the Note Minigame
The rod's value comes from playing the music mechanic cleanly. Successful notes add control and progress; misses take both away and make the fish harder to manage. Build consistency on ordinary Crystal Cove catches before attempting the final major target. The restriction tasks are execution checks, not a cash shortcut.
If the Quest Does Not Advance
Check the level gate, whether the requested fish is held during dialogue, whether the current task specifically requires Pinion's Aria, and whether any note was missed.
