Pinion's Aria has two finish lines. The first quest awards a Restricted rod; the follow-up catches remove that restriction. Stopping after the reward explains why the rod can appear unlocked while still not behaving like the full version.
Understand the Two-Part Unlock
The documented quest begins at level 424 with the Mysterious Songstress. Before starting, confirm that the live dialogue still uses the same level and task sequence. Keep the quest panel visible whenever possible so a missed condition is caught early.
Start With the Mysterious Songstress
Find the Songstress in the Underground Music Venue and follow her request for the qualifying musical fish. Continue through the Hang Glider route from Castaway Cliffs, catch the Heavenly Harmonic Dove, and return for Restricted Pinion's Aria.
Remove the Restricted State
Use the awarded rod for the follow-up tasks. Current community references describe 42 Crystal Cove catches without missed notes, followed by one qualifying major target completed without a missed note. Read the live quest wording because the eligible target list can change.
Practice the Note Mechanic Before the Rare Target
Do several ordinary catches first. Learn where notes fall and how the catch bar behaves when a note is hit or missed. The notes and Resonance guide explains the mechanic without mixing it into the acquisition route.
Fix Progress That Does Not Advance
Check the equipped rod, target location, note-miss condition, qualifying target, and quest stage. After one catch fails to count, stop and inspect the panel instead of repeating the same mistake. The restriction should only be treated as a bug after every condition matches.
